Blisters
These are caused by friction – usually from footwear.
They appear as a raised area with fluid inside and can be very painful. If the skin breaks over the blister, they can become infected, so it’s best not to do this deliberately.
Treatment can be as simple as applying a clean dressing to the area and re-examining the footwear that caused the blister.
A blood blister is where tissue has been damaged to a greater degree. These can be caused by much greater friction occurring, or for a longer period of time.
If the sensation in your feet is affected, then these can go un-noticed for a considerable time which can lead to more serious problems such as spreading soft tissue infection.
Again, if this type of blister breaks, it’s best put on a clean dressing and then get it checked out by a Podiatrist.
