Cracked Heels

This can be extremely painful and also a possible route for bacterial infections – particularly if your immune system is impaired such as with Diabetes.

The best way of keeping your feet free from these cracks, is with the daily application of a moisturising cream.

The best ones to use for heels are ones with added urea in them. This essentially puts moisture back into the skin and keeps it there. Skin feels a lot softer after application of these creams.

If however, your heels are covered with a very thick layer of hard skin which is cracking, then this needs to be removed first before the application of a cream can have any effect.

At Feet for Purpose, I firstly remove this with a sterile scalpel blade and then by filing the skin to allow the cream to really soak in.
